House Access & Security

  • Sliding & Front Door Code: 4545 (for both doors)
  • Double Doors: To latch and lock: close the outer door first (left side in the living room, right side in the kitchen) and lift the handle upward. Then close the inner door and lift the handle upward while turning the lock. If doors are not latched this way, winds will blow them open.
  • Sliding Doors: To latch and lock: close the doors together and press the latch counter-clockwise. You must firmly press the latch until you hear a click sound to ensure they are securely locked.
  • Cottage Double Doors: To latch and lock: close the left door first, lift the handle upward, then close the inner door and lift the handle upward while turning the lock. If doors are not latched this way, winds may blow them open.

Utilities & Climate Control

WiFi

User name: Beach House
Password: Beach475!
Available in the main house and cottage.

If not working: go to the top floor, turn left at the top of the stairs, and walk straight. On the left behind the second chair, unplug the power of both the Xfinity modem and Eero WiFi router for a minute. Then plug in the Xfinity modem. When lights are solid, plug in the Eero router. Do not touch other Eero devices in the house.

AC / Heating Wall Units

Units are located in the two front bedrooms downstairs, and upstairs in the primary bedroom, dining area, and living room. AC only works when doors are closed, but upstairs you have the discretion to turn off the AC and leave doors open. A remote is provided for each room except the living room. Any remote operates the units—just point at the AC/Heat unit and press the power button, then toggle the temperature up or down.

Dehumidifier

Please leave the downstairs laundry room door open as the dehumidifier's outflow vent is located within. The dehumidifier only works if the exterior doors are closed.

Laundry

There is a laundry area in the primary bedroom/bathroom and another laundry room on the lower floor. Please keep the downstairs laundry room door open to prevent overheating. Dry air from the dehumidifier flows out into this room. Always leave the washer lid/door ajar so air can circulate. Please wash and dry during your stay as turnovers are extremely tight for cleaners.

Kitchen & Appliances

TV

The TV uses a cable box. You can log onto your Netflix, Hulu, and Prime accounts. Please do not order anything on demand.

Waffle Maker

(1) Turn on the switch to warm up. (2) Once the timer reads 3:30, spray PAM on the bottom section and fill with waffle mix level with the edges, then spray the top section, close, and flip so batter goes into the former top section. (3) Hit the button to start the timer. (4) Please ensure the waffle maker is clean for the next guest.

Bar, Sink, Ice Maker, Best Drinking Water

These are located opposite the kitchen refrigerator. The bar sink has an additional filter, making it the best source for drinking water.

Safety & House Rules

  • Smoking: No smoking in the house. If you do smoke outside, please carefully extinguish your cigarette or cigar and dispose of it carefully.
  • Fireplaces: Do not use the fireplaces, as they are non-functioning and the flue could be blocked by bird nests.
  • Outside Deck: Do not allow small children unattended on the deck. Lounge cushions should be stored in the primary bedroom.
  • Outside Umbrella: Put down or close the umbrella when not in use, especially each night, due to wind catching the umbrella and lifting it like a sail, which could cause injury and/or damage to glass doors or the umbrella. Always keep an eye on the weather.

Outdoor Equipment & Activities

Kayaks & Boards

We have two kiddy kayaks, one single kayak, one double kayak, and two paddle boards. Adult kayaks are on the dunes before the beach—please attach them to the iron rod as extreme high tide goes over the dunes. Paddle boards, kiddy kayaks, and all paddles are on or by the paddle board rack below the west side of the screened-in porch. Life jackets are at the bottom of the stairs of the lower level of the house. Please do not use kayaks without adequate life preservers for everyone on board. Track the weather carefully—winds can be strong. Try to paddle into the wind first; initially paddling downwind can be misleading.

Bikes

A tandem, mountain bike, and hybrid bike are available for use in the garage. Use of helmets is highly encouraged.

Grill

If you use the grill, please clean it for the next guest using the wire brush provided. Put the cover on after use. There is a second propane tank in the garage. Please advise if the tank goes empty so we can replace it.

Garage & Parking

Garage

The garage door opener should be left on the table by the front door. If needed, you can enter the garage via the cottage entrance using the same code as the front door. Try to keep the garage door shut when the dehumidifier is running.

Driveway

Whenever possible, try to exit the driveway facing forward and as close to the cottage parking as possible. If you need to back up the driveway, back into the cottage parking.

Miscellaneous

  • Garbage & Recycling: Sea Side Disposal: 508-255-1070 Trash and recycling are picked up on Sundays. Recycling is single stream (everything together).
  • Pack n Play: The pack & play and mattress are located in the primary bedroom closet. If you move it, please return it to this location.
  • Landscaping, Lawn Care, and Watering: Landscaping and mowing are typically done by Jody. Bill will usually water midweek.
